The Chief of Staff network has been incredibly helpful for me, and I honestly started seeing immediate value on Day 1 of joining.

The network offers numerous opportunities to further growth, development, and camaraderie - I think it'd be challenging to navigate the CoS role alone without this group of people.

      What Students Are Saying

See how Chiefs of Staff Launchpad has supported the careers of students around the world.

This was a strong introductory course that contained a good overview of all the components of a Chief of Staff role. I also liked the collaborative feel of the sessions as opposed to sitting for lectures.

              Trevor Horn

Corporate Governance Leader at HAI Group

As a 4× Chief of Staff, it was genuinely refreshing to learn from such a diverse group of experienced practitioners. The speakers brought thoughtful, relevant perspectives, but what stood out most for me was the community. Being able to bounce ideas off others and sit in a space where you realise you’re not alone in the role made a huge difference. Tom and Scott have done an amazing job creating that kind of open, supportive environment.

              Heena Nathoo

Chief of Staff to the CEO at maxwell+spark

Launchpad has equipped me with a strong foundation for succeeding in the Chief of Staff role. The intimate cohort setting provided a safe environment to ask questions and learn from peers in similar stages of their careers. While the program introduces current Chiefs of Staff to practical skills and frameworks they can apply immediately, I’ve also found many of these tools relevant and valuable in my current role as an aspiring Chief of Staff.

              Natalie Myers

Senior Executive Assistant at Intermountain Health

This was a great learning experience for me, being someone that is trying to land a first time CoS position. And it reinforced that my skillset is transferable, and the path that I want to take.

              Andrea Perry

              Strategy & Operations Leader

I came in with a deep curiosity of the mysterious Chief of Staff role and left with a solid foundation to set expectations and goals as I venture through this journey. I'm grateful to have connected with and learned from such experienced professionals and coaches as well as my fellow aspiring Chiefs of Staff.

              Elaine Ramirez

Chief of Staff, Growth, Communications & Business Operations Consultant at SODAX

This was an excellent course. I feel better equipped to take on my first COS position. Thank you!

              Mike Maseda

              Chief of Staff at Prompt

I recently joined the Chief of Staff Network and have already made some amazing connections. When you're a chief of staff, you're often the only person in the company with that job title -- the COS Network has people in your shoes, and it's a great place for advice, brainstorming, and community. Highly recommend!

              David Burt

Chief Of Staff at Atlantic Media

The Chief of Staff Network has been a blessing as I ventured into a unique position that was new - not only for myself but also for SumUp. Having access to this community makes my life easier as we’re all facing similar challenges and can freely exchange on ideas and solutions.

              Jacques Hoerter

              Chief of Staff at SumUp

I came across Chief of Staff Network when considering the CoS role for the first time and found the content about the role was so helpful, I immediately became a member when I officially started the position. The content and connections continued to be invaluable throughout my entire CoS journey, so much so that I was able to work myself out of the job and into a founder role faster than I anticipated. Highly recommend!

              Katie Murphy

fmr Chief of Staff at HackerU

Tangible products to take away from these sessions were very useful. While great to have the “think big” conversations, it was also very nice to be able to walk away and come BACK to a real template or written framework to guide/reference.

              Justin Shore

              Chief of Staff, FirstNet Authority

The mental models and frameworks were fantastic! Having a practical resource that I can go back to is really helpful. It was also great to hear about the experiences of more seasoned CoS -- I found that to be particularly helpful for both new insights, and validation on my approaches/thinking.

              Sara Zabukovec

fmr Chief of Staff at A Cloud Guru

An invaluable network offering impactful connections and a vast pool of knowledge. The ultimate brain trust for a generalist looking to learn and grow.

Workflow Thinking: The Skill Behind Every Automation

The leaders getting the most out of AI aren't just better at prompting. They think differently about their work—seeing tasks as part of flows rather than isolated actions. That shift is what separates someone who uses AI one task at a time from someone who builds systems that run without them. This session gives you the mental model behind tools like Zapier, Google Flows, and Claude Cowork—and the discipline of mapping processes before touching any software. What You'll Take Away A reusable lens for spotting which of your workflows are automation-ready. The data mapping step most leaders skip—and why it breaks everything downstream. Enough fluency to design, evaluate, and direct cross-app workflows without writing code. By registering for this event, you agree that your contact information may be shared with event sponsors and partners for follow-up communications related to this session.

From Reactive to Regulated: Energy Management Tools for Chief of Staffs

We’re excited to host this interactive virtual workshop for the Chief of Staff Network (COSN) community, focused on one of the most overlooked but critical aspects of the role: sustainable energy management. Chiefs of Staff operate at the intersection of competing priorities, constant context-switching, and high-stakes decision-making. This workshop is designed to help operators better understand how they manage energy, regulate stress in real time, and create more sustainable rhythms for long-term performance. Date & Time: June 30, 2026 Location: Zoom This practical session will be led by Carrie McMahon, a current Chief of Staff with 10+ years in tech leadership and a yoga teacher specializing in mindfulness and stress recovery. Drawing from her experience building the ALIGN Method after her own burnout experience, Carrie will guide participants through practical techniques and frameworks specifically designed for high-performing operators. This is not a productivity seminar or a passive webinar. It’s a hands-on, reflective session built around real-world scenarios Chiefs of Staff face every day. What we’ll explore How to recognize personal energy patterns and early signs of depletion The difference between sustainable energy and borrowed energy How mental, emotional, and physical demands compound over time Practical breathwork techniques for transitions and high-pressure moments How nervous system regulation impacts strategic thinking and executive presence Ways to create more sustainable operating rhythms in fast-moving environments Workshop format This will be a live, interactive workshop combining guided exercises, reflection, discussion, and practical techniques participants can immediately apply in their day-to-day work. Participants will leave with: Practical techniques for regulating stress and resetting between meetings A clearer understanding of their personal energy patterns Tools for navigating high-pressure environments more sustainably A framework for identifying sustainable vs. borrowed energy An energy audit framework to continue building awareness over time Who is this event for? This session is designed for Chiefs of Staff, senior operators, BizOps leaders, and professionals supporting executive teams who want to operate more sustainably without sacrificing effectiveness. If you’re navigating constant context-switching, decision fatigue, or the pressure of always needing to be “on,” this workshop is designed with your role in mind.

We’re excited to bring the Chief of Staff Network (COSN) community back together in Boston for another in-person gathering this summer. Following a thoughtful and highly engaged first meetup earlier this year, we’re continuing the conversation with a new group of Chiefs of Staff and operators across the Boston area. A special thank you to Emily Glasgow for hosting and continuing to help grow the Boston Chief of Staff community. Date & Time: July 15, 2026 · 10:30 AM – 12:30 PM ET Location: Shared upon confirmation of attendance This informal, in-person meetup is designed to bring together Chiefs of Staff and adjacent operators for meaningful discussion, peer connection, and shared learning around the evolving realities of the role. Our previous gathering sparked thoughtful conversations around how Chiefs of Staff are using AI in their work and how the role itself is evolving inside modern organizations. We’ll continue exploring those themes while creating space for new perspectives and fresh faces to join the discussion. There’s no rigid agenda — just a welcoming environment for operators to exchange ideas, compare experiences, and connect with peers navigating similar challenges. What to expect A thoughtful, conversational environment Discussions with fellow Chiefs of Staff and operators Conversations around AI, leadership, and the evolving CoS role Coffee, snacks, and new connections Who is this event for? This meetup is for operators currently serving as Chiefs of Staff, Founders’ Associates, or in similar BizOps, strategy, or operations roles. Please include your current job title and company so we can verify your role and approve your registration. If you’re interested in connecting with peers and helping shape the Chief of Staff community in Boston, we’d love to have you join us. The AI-era Chief of Staff: What It Actually Means to Become Chief of AI in 2026

The COSN AI Readiness Diagnostic found that 86% of Chiefs of Staff use AI daily — but only 7.3% are AI-Native. Here's what actually separates them, and what it takes to become your organization's Chief of AI.

The Conversation Every Chief of Staff Needs to Have

Most Chiefs of Staff are brilliant at execution. They hold the context no one else holds, absorb the tension, mediate the conflicts, and keep the company moving. But over time, being indispensable to the system is not the same as having a say in where it goes, and that gap is what burns people out. In this piece, Tristan Lim, coach to Chiefs of Staff and founders and Fellow at the Chief of Staff Network, draws on his own burnout experience and his coaching work on both sides of the CoS-founder relationship to name the hidden cost of being the bridge. Through two client stories (a CoS wearing three hats who never asked which ones she wanted to keep, and an operator who drew a blank when asked for strategic direction) he identifies the pattern: execution without perspective. The fix is not working harder. It is having the courage to name what you actually want from the role, do less, and start choosing which bridges to build.

Chiefs of Staff: It’s Time to Face Reality

AI is transforming the Chief of Staff role. Off-the-shelf tools can already draft board decks, build financial models, plan offsites, and manage internal comms. Chiefs of Staff who cling to task-level work risk being replaced. Those who embrace AI as a core competency — setting up systems, championing adoption, and doubling down on judgment, relationships, and strategic thinking — will thrive. This article breaks down the four building blocks of the CoS role, what AI will handle, what humans must own, and how to start the transition today.
